Week 5

What's Happening:

A big delivery landed from Phrae this week — raw teak logs and stacks of cut, sawn lumber arrived by truck, enough to keep the crew working for weeks to come. It's stacked high under tarps and shelter now, ready to be shaped into the frame, walls, and finishes still to come.

Chan Chao, though, is where the real story is this week. We were renting locally at the time, waiting to move on-site, and RYH's crew genuinely pulled out all the stops — most of what you see here happened in a single 10-day sprint. The roof trusses went from bare frame to fully sheeted and crested in that window, exterior wall panels went up plank by plank, and the porch railings and fretwork were fitted and finished. By the end of it, Chan Chao had gone from a skeleton to something that actually looked like a house — windows in, porch built, even an interior room already paneled out in warm teak. It's hard to overstate how fast this moved.

Chotimanee, meanwhile, kept its own steadier pace — concrete support columns going up under scaffolding, the frame for what will eventually carry the whole structure.
