Week 7
What's Happening:
Week seven is all about the mai sak — the teak itself, and the sheer scale of what's now standing on site. The full ground-floor frame is up, post after post rising out of the concrete footings, braced with timber struts while the horizontal beams tie everything together into a proper skeleton. Close up, you can see exactly why teak is worth the wait: the joinery is precise, mortise-and-tenon style connections pegged and bolted, built to hold for generations rather than years. One shot catches a worker fitting a post right up against a neighbouring roofline — a reminder of just how tight some of this work has to be, even with whole tree trunks to wrangle into place.
