The Craftsmen Behind Laniakea

Every beam, post, and roof crest on this estate was cut, carved, and finished by one family-run workshop in Phrae.

Thirty Years in Phrae

Rong Yang Home (บ้านสักทองคุณภาพ บ้านร้องแหย่ง) has been building genuine teak Lanna houses since 1993, from their own factory in Ban Rong Yaeng, Sung Men district — Phrae, the historic heart of Thailand's teak trade. Founded by Khun Montri Mahanil, the workshop is now run by Khun Tem and Khun Oil, with a small team who still select and grade every piece of wood by hand rather than sourcing pre-cut lumber.

Why Teak, why them?

Teak has long held a special place in Thai building tradition — considered an auspicious wood, believed to bring good fortune to the people who live within it. Rong Yang Home sources their teak from Phrae itself, kiln-dried through Thailand's Forest Industry Organization, and grades every piece before it goes anywhere near a saw. Over more than thirty years, that discipline has gone into over 300 houses built across the country — proof this isn't a one-off skill, but a standard they hold on every build, including this one.
